INTRODUCTION
Chinese Mission Seminary (CMS) is a inter-denominational
seminary established in Hong Kong in 1987. The founding purposes
are: (1) to respond to the challenges of 1997 together with the
churches in Hong Kong, by producing a new generation of Christian
workers who can engage in ministries of spiritual formation, evangelism,
discipleship, church-planting and missions, which will generate
a new church renewal movement; (2) to face the challenge of China
together with Chinese churches worldwide by producing Christian
evangelists, missionaries and researchers for the evangelization
of the Chinese people and transformation of the Chinese culture
with the Gospel.

VISION
AND MISSION
Evangelization of the Chinese People
We want to assist the church in China to accelerate in her task
of evangelism. During the last 50 years, there has been a 100 fold
increase in the number of Protestant believers from 84,000 communicant
members in 1949 to approximately 84 million today. Never have the
Chinese people been more open to the Gospel than the last twenty
years. China is now enjoying an unprecedented era of golden opportunity
for evangelism, yet threatened by a rapid surge of consumer materialism.
The
Kingdomization of the Chinese Church
We want to help the Church in China to develop a dynamic and universal
concept of the church on the march unto Zion, with her eyes focused
on the triune God. We want to help her leaders to have a Biblical
perspective on the church that transcends the limitations of locality
and the emerging Chinese denominational sectarianism. We want to
promote cooperation among church groups to work together as the
body of Christ to accomplish the Great Commission and to share spiritual
gifts with each other.
The
Christianization of Chinese Culture
We want to help the Church in China to develop and apply the Biblical
concept of cultural mandate so that the benefits of the Gospel will
not be confined to the inner chambers of the individual believers
hearts, but also be manifested outwardly in the transformation or
Christianization of Chinese culture and social institutions, and
thereby contribute to China nation building.
